LLA Concussion Management Policy
A player who the coaches believe has sustained a concussion – whether by exhibiting signs of a concussion or having sustained a blow to the head – will not return to the field for practice or a game without the express written medical authorization/permission from the child’s medical provider stating that the child is cleared to participate in youth sports, and in particular lacrosse. After a player has been cleared by a trained medical professional and written authorization/permission has been provided to the coach, the player should be gradually returned to play commencing with light aerobic activity on the first day of return and slowly progressing into sport specific conditioning and running drills then on to non-contact drills such as line drills, shooting drills, passing drills and only then to full contact practice drills. The Coach shall monitor the player to see if he/she remains symptom free through the activity and throughout the night/day until next practice. If symptoms arise during a day of activity, activity should be stopped immediately and that day would be repeated the following day. No player who returns from a concussion, after proper written authorization has been provided to the Coach, shall participate in a GAME until that player has participated in a minimum of one (1) practice.
Parents and guardians hereby grant to Litchfield Lacrosse Association the absolute right and permission to publish, and use photographic portraits, pictures, or videos of the minor for use through reasonable promotion of lacrosse conducted by Litchfield Lacrosse Association, without compensation. And hereby waive any right that they or the minor may have to inspect or approve the finished media material as long as the matter is within reason and is not deemed to be socially inappropriate for use of the minor.
LLA Lightning Policy
The coach in charge of the practice shall immediately suspend or cancel practice and players and coaches shall retreat to automobiles or a secure structure with four walls and a roof in the event of any of the sound of thunder or the sight of lightning. No players will be permitted to remain on the field. Coaches are urged to monitor weather conditions and to use their best judgment regarding adverse weather. A coach may postpone or cancel practice at any time that he or she believes that it is unsafe to continue for any weather related reason. A practice may resume following suspension, at the discretion of the coach, if no thunder is heard or lightning is observed for a period of 30 minutes. Coaches are responsible for providing shelter to any members of the team who do not have a parent or other adult present at the field. Coaches should advise parents of this severe weather policy and should obtain contact information so that the coach can contact parents who leave their children at practice in the event of a suspension or cancellation. This policy is to the highest degree mandatory and shall be strictly enforced.
